ABSTRACT

The level of detail needed for effective communication varies depending on risk and audience.  Learn how to adapt your requirements management process to meet the communication needs of a diverse and distributed application development team.  This workshop picks up after requirements have been gathered and documented but ready to communicate to those who need them to design, build and test the solution.  Emphasis is in understanding how requirements are used by project managers, architects, designers, data administrators, or anyone who must interpret the requirements to perform their tasks.

AUDIENCE

Business analysts, designers, architects, engineers, RFP and proposal writers, and applications team members responsible for communicating or managing requirements.

Upon completion of this workshop, the participant will be able to:

  • Gain agreement on communication protocols to promote understanding
  • Assess the audience to assure appropriate level of detail and exent of formality
  • Select appropriate requirements gathering techniques (e.g. use case) to match the audience’s need for detail and methods.
  • Ensure requirements are quantifiable and measurable so that they can be tracked.
  • Plan and conduct mock virtual reviews for multiple audiences
  • Determine the impact of requirements and changes to requirements throughout the life-cycle
